Since late last year I've been happily collaborating with local artist and creative force
Zoltan Fecso. Our new project is a performance of new music for vibraphone and synthesiser, written by Zoltan Fecso and myself. Our creative approach combines our interest in improvisation with a shared interest in storytelling and referencing real and imagined spaces. The project began in November 2023 with our first performance, which received praise and formed a cohesive musical language between us.
We’ve continued to perform and have written a suite of music, due to be recorded this year. The music evokes a sense of wonder, curiosity and state of comfort in the unknown. By combining acoustic and electronic instruments, we explore how sounds interact with one another and the space around us. Our next show will be on October 2nd at Open Studio. A few nights ago, myself and 4 other musicians met at Shell Space to play as an ensemble for the very first time, exploring and responding to the poem “The Patience Of Ordinary Things” by Pat Schneider in a live and emergent textural soundscape.
What an incredible evening of live music creation, artwork and deep listening. My fellow musicians Curtis Wakeling, Liam ‘Snowy’ Halliwell, Pat Telfer and Elissa Robustelli, who I only met an hour before the show, performed an improvised set in the beautiful Shell Space whilst the audience lay down, drew, painted, sipped tea and bathed in glorious sound. G'day from Melbourne! Over the past 12 months I've been settling back into life in Australia. It's been an exhausting but rewarding journey bringing my new little family home for the first time. Now I'm super excited to be back rehearsing for some upcoming shows in Melbourne, and will have the pleasure of sharing the stage with two wonderful local musicians, Ornob Sheikh and Dan Richardson. I’m thrilled to announce the release of my upcoming album “Visceral”. It’s been a long time coming but finally the work is complete and ready to be set free!
